What Jesus Said About God the Holy SpiritSample
God the Holy Spirit as the third Person of the Trinity
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, along with God the Father and God the Son (Jesus Christ). He is God, a Person, and one being with God the Father and God the Son. They are three Persons, but one being, one essence.
Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Paraclete (Greek), translated as One who is called alongside to support or help, the Comforter, the Counsellor, Advocate, and Helper. But He does much more: He guides, seals, baptises, regenerates, sanctifies, empowers and convicts (John 14:14, 26, 15:26, 16:7).
To think of the Holy Spirit as a mystical force is wrong. The Holy Spirit is God, one of the Trinity, a Person. Whoever wants to live as a Christian must be indwelled by the Person of God, the Holy Spirit. Read Galatians 5:16-26 and ask the Holy Spirit, the Helper and Comforter, to reveal Himself to you, and ask Him to show you how to walk with Him daily. For every Christian, it is of utmost importance to understand that God, the Holy Spirit, lives in us. We must walk with the Spirit daily, be led by the Spirit, live by the Spirit, bear the fruit of the Spirit, and walk in step with the Holy Spirit. This encompasses the entire daily walk of the Christian.
The famous missionary Hudson Taylor said, "We (Christians) are supernatural people: born again through a supernatural birth, driven by a supernatural power, nourished by supernatural food, taught by a supernatural Teacher (The Holy Spirit) from a supernatural Book." Central to what he said is the Holy Spirit as a Divine Person.
Obedience: What needs to change in your life in light of the fact that the Holy Spirit lives in you?
About this Plan
In general, many Christians know something about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. But we know too little about the Person of the Holy Spirit, especially the fact that the Holy Spirit is God and that He is one of the persons in the Trinity. This study will help you to understand more about God the Holy Spirit.
