Day 10: Protection Against Comparison

Lord, help me set reasonable expectations for myself and my children. When it comes to grades, sports, performance, friends, other moms, and other families, keep our eyes on You instead of on the standards set by others. Help us remember that our self-image is built on being made in the imago dei—image of God—not the imago me. Instruct me to know when average is okay. When failure happens—my own or my kids’—grant us the humility to learn, improve, move on, and not be defined by it but rather refined through it. The jealousy monster is real. Let it not cause havoc in our house; may we slay it with the sword of Your Spirit, which is the Word of God.
