Day 2: Kids to Love the Word

(For this prayer, whenever you see "[child]," sub in the name of the child you are praying for).

Father in heaven, more than [child] desires [his/her] favorite toys and TV shows, more than friends and social media, more than the acceptance and approval of others, more than anything in life—create in [child] an insatiable desire to know You through Your Word.

May [he/she] study, memorize, and meditate on Your truths so that [he/she] is prepared to share it with others. Never let [child] get tired of, grow bored with, or assume in arrogance that [he/she] knows all there is to know about You or Scripture. Give [him/her] a thirst for learning and the humility to change [his/her] theology when it is in contradiction to Your Word. But most of all, may [child’s] character, behavior, and attitudes be transformed by Your Word. Let Your kindness, patience, joy, peace, truthfulness, and love overflow out of [him/ her] as [he/she] abides in you, the true vine (John 15:1-8). I pray that the other kids around [him/her] will experience Your loving-kindness through [him/her] and so be drawn to Your Word as well.

Honest Habit

Memorizing Scripture is helpful for everyone. And don’t limit yourself to single verses—pick longer passages. It helps to understand the verse in context. Pick a passage to memorize each week and post it around the house. (Maybe introduce the passage for the week every Sunday night.) Challenge yourself, your kids, and your husband to memorize together.
