Prayer

DAY 4 OF 7

There's Always Time to Pray

What Jesus shows is the simple reality of prayer. If He thinks it is important to take time out to pray, then we should too. There is always time to pray.

We may find that taking ourselves out of the busyness of the day-to-day provides the quiet place we need to focus on important matters. Sometimes a quick prayer for an event or situation is what is needed. Practising prayer is good too. We can use the Lord’s Prayer or another prayer that we know well as the basis to pray about anything.

The key issue is to pray. That is how we talk to God. He knows what is on our minds and hearts, but saying it aloud and being deliberate in prayer helps us express our thoughts and feelings.

As Daniel prayed, ‘We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy’ (Daniel 9:18b).

Prayer is not a sacred process that we need to spend time preparing ourselves to undertake but is simply talking with God and we can do it any time. If it needs special time, then make it. Don’t put it off.

About this Plan

Prayer

Everybody loves a good chat with someone who pays attention and cares about what you’re saying and who you can share anything with. This devotional series teaches us about how precious prayer is, that it is not a sacred process that we need to prepare for, but it is simply talking with God and we can do it at any time!
