Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="LUK.19.8"></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="LUK.19.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">Jesus said to him, </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.</span></span><span class="content"> </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="LUK.19.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="wj"><span class="content">For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.&#8221;</span></span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Parable of the Ten Minas</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="LUK.19.10"></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="LUK.19.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="LUK.19.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">He said: </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return.</span></span><span class="content"> </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="LUK.19.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="wj"><span class="content">So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas.</span></span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class="body"><span class="fr">19:13 </span><span class="ft">A mina was about three months&#8217; wages.</span></span></span><span class="content"> </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8216;Put this money to work,&#8217; he said, &#8216;until I come back.&#8217;</span></span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="LUK.19.13"></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="LUK.19.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content"> </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, &#8216;We don&#8217;t want this man to be our king.&#8217;</span></span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="LUK.19.14"></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="LUK.19.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content"> </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;He was made king, however, and returned home. You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?</span></span><span class="content"> </span></span><span class="verse v23" data-usfm="LUK.19.23"><span class="label">23</span><span class="wj"><span class="content">Why then didn&#8217;t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?&#8217;</span></span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v23" data-usfm="LUK.19.23"></span><span class="verse v24" data-usfm="LUK.19.24"><span class="label">24</span><span class="content"> </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;Then he said to those standing by, &#8216;Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.&#8217;</span></span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v24" data-usfm="LUK.19.24"></span><span class="verse v25" data-usfm="LUK.19.25"><span class="label">25</span><span class="content"> </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;Sir,&#8217; they said, &#8216;he already has ten!&#8217;</span></span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v25" data-usfm="LUK.19.25"></span><span class="verse v26" data-usfm="LUK.19.26"><span class="label">26</span><span class="content"> </span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;He replied, &#8216;I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.</span></span><span class="content"> </span></span><span class="verse v27" data-usfm="LUK.19.27"><span class="label">27</span><span class="wj"><span class="content">But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them&#8212;bring them here and kill them in front of me.&#8217;&#8198;&#8221;</span></span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v27" data-usfm="LUK.19.27"></span><span class="verse v28" data-usfm="LUK.19.28"><span class="label">28</span><span class="content">After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. </span></span><span class="verse v29" data-usfm="LUK.19.29"><span class="label">29</span><span class="content">As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, </span></span><span class="verse v30" data-usfm="LUK.19.30"><span class="label">30</span><span class="wj"><span class="content">&#8220;Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. </span></span><span class="verse v48" data-usfm="LUK.19.48"><span class="label">48</span><span class="content">Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.</span></span></div>

They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="REV.14.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Three Angels</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="REV.14.5"></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="REV.14.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth&#8212;to every nation, tribe, language and people. </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="REV.14.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">He said in a loud voice, &#8220;Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="REV.14.7"></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="REV.14.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">A second angel followed and said, &#8220;&#8198;&#8216;Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,&#8217;</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class="body"><span class="fr">14:8 </span><span class="ft"><span class="ref" usfm="ISA.21.9">Isaiah 21:9</span></span></span></span><span class="content"> which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="REV.14.8"></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="REV.14.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: &#8220;If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.14.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">they, too, will drink the wine of God&#8217;s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="REV.14.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="REV.14.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="REV.14.12"></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="REV.14.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">Then I heard a voice from heaven say, &#8220;Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="REV.14.13"><span class="content">&#8220;Yes,&#8221; says the Spirit, &#8220;they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Harvesting the Earth and Trampling the Winepress</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="REV.14.13"></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="REV.14.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class="body"><span class="fr">14:14 </span><span class="ft">See <span class="ref" usfm="DAN.7.13">Daniel 7:13</span>.</span></span></span><span class="content"> with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="REV.14.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, &#8220;Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="REV.14.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">So he who was seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="REV.14.16"></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="REV.14.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="REV.14.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">Still another angel, who had charge of the fire, came from the altar and called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, &#8220;Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth&#8217;s vine, because its grapes are ripe.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="REV.14.19"><span class="label">19</span><span class="content">The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of God&#8217;s wrath. </span></span><span class="verse v20" data-usfm="REV.14.20"><span class="label">20</span><span class="content">They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses&#8217; bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class="body"><span class="fr">14:20 </span><span class="ft">That is, about 180 miles or about 300 kilometers</span></span></span></span></div>
