PEACE
We all want peace in our lives, peace in the world, peace from the travails of the busyness and stresses of day-to-day pressures. Peace to sleep well at night. Peace in ourselves.
There are thousands of quotes about peace and many of them are helpful but in the end they depend on you and others being in some sort of accord.
‘Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.’ Albert Einstein
‘We look forward to the time when the power to love will replace the love of power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.’ William Ellery Channing
We cannot have true peace without God. David writes this in Psalm 62. Rest, hope, refuge are found in God alone. He is the one who is our rock and fortress. We can trust in Him because we can pour out our hearts to Him. We know that the world will never be at full peace until Jesus returns. Nonetheless, we should continue to pray for world peace, to an end of conflict and for true listening and understanding between combatants. We should pray for peace in our relationships and peace for our hearts as we deal with all the things that go on in our lives. Bring them to Jesus, ‘for He Himself is our peace’ Ephesians 2:14a.
