Accept One Another: Devotions From Time of Grace

DAY 22 OF 31

Hope I Die Before I Get Old In a dog-eat-dog world, the older dogs get pushed around and shoved to the back of the line. Who wants to be old? One of my favorite TV channels plays a lot of old reruns, and almost all the commercials are geared to older people. There clearly is a market for their stuff. But honestly, who wants to be a person who needs those products? Who aspires to the world of step-in bathtubs, catheters, walkers, funeral insurance, and chair hoists built into your staircase? It should not surprise you that the ways of God's kingdom are opposite to those of our culture. God invites us to see seniors as he does: repositories of great life-wisdom. They are overcomers; they have been through fire and testing and emerged humbler, kinder, and wiser. They have lived long enough to see their prayers answered; they have lived long enough to notice with appreciation and serenity the handiwork of the Master Weaver in their long past. Blessed is the family that looks up to and cherishes its grandparents and great-grandparents. Blessed is the congregation that cherishes the counsel and respects the legacy of its elders. Ladies, when you decide to quit dying your hair, do it with pride and self-confidence. Here's what God thinks of your silver mane: "Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life" (Proverbs 16:31).

About this Plan

Accept One Another: Devotions From Time of Grace

It’s God’s wish and commission that we should be reconciled with one another. Though Satan tries to use differences as wedges to drive us apart, the Spirit leads us to love, respect, and appreciate other people. It is the goal of this devotional plan to help you think through and live out Romans 15:7: "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.?"
