Fear Not

DAY 31 OF 31

Jesus' Resurrection Guarantees Mine

The physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead changes everything. And I mean absolutely everything.

It means first of all that his Father accepted his innocent life and death as worthy and completely substitutionary sacrifices on behalf of the sinful world. It means that whoever trusts and believes in Christ has peace with God now and forever. It means that all who trust and believe in Christ will rise from death just as he did, at a time of God's choosing.

Listen to the words of Job, a man bitterly familiar with attending funerals of people close to him, a man now chronically ill, living in daily pain, and sure that his own day of death is not far off: "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!" (Job 19:25-27).

A happy future is guaranteed to all believers. It is only the present that is hard. All the fear is removed from the dying process, because we know we are not heading into disaster but paradise. And it means that we don't "lose" our loved ones in Christ who pass away. We are simply investing them, confident that we will get them back with interest.

How our hearts yearn within us for that great day! Fear not!

About this Plan

Fear Not

What are you afraid of? God has spoken over and over again to fearful people. His angels repeatedly say, "Don’t be afraid." This reading plan contains pairs of devotions. The first devotion in a pair voices a fear that plagues many of us. The second devotion contains God's words of reassurance and comfort.
