WEEK 1, DAY 5—GOD IS LOVE

The Bible describes God as love. Jesus is the embodiment of love. We are designed to be loved by God, to love God, and to reflect his love to the people around us.

The best part about God’s love is that it’s not just a concept—he proved it! Jesus demonstrated his love for us by dying on the cross. That’s how much he loved us. He died a horrible death on the cross, purely out of love for all of humanity!

God’s love is the love of a Father! It’s important to understand this because it means that God wants what’s best for us! This means that God doesn’t encourage some things we WANT to do, because he knows what’s best for us. A kid may want to eat lollies and ice cream for every meal, but a good dad would put some boundaries in place to stop their child from eating too much! It’s the same with God; he puts boundaries in place, out of his love for us.

God’s love is perfect! Sometimes, because humans are imperfect, we get an imperfect representation of love. Maybe because of what you’ve experienced with your parents, family, or friends, you don’t have a correct view of love. God’s love is perfect, and as you trust him with your heart, you’ll find his love satisfies you like no earthly, human love ever could.
