Reinventing Your Business

DAY 5 OF 5

Reinventing Your Business: Part V

This week we’re discussing how to reinvent your business by using the word Renew as an acronym. The W stands for Willpower.

A local church had a strong presence in the heart of the city, when they determined God was leading them to move to a bigger facility. But the new facility was more than ten miles away.

Although they had many naysayers, the leadership team had the willpower to tune out the complaints and push ahead. The result was a far greater spiritual impact.

Hebrews 10:36 teaches, “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.

In Hebrews 10, the author is speaking of the confidence Christians can have in following Jesus Christ, the devotedness to his sacrifice that guarantees believers entrance into the most holy place. Even the newest Christians, though, know of Christ’s warning of the hardship of putting him before all else.

Likewise, when you’ve made the decision to make dramatic changes to your business, exercise willpower and persevere to the end. A true reinvention of your business cannot be accomplished passively or abandoned as the pressure increases. You have to commit yourself.

Questions for Reflection

  • Before you’ve dug your heels in, are you confident in your choice regarding your business? Go through the Renew steps once or twice more before settling into your decision.
  • What is the difference between willpower and bullheadedness? How might you ensure your determination will last without becoming unreasonable in your decision making? What is your backup plan?
