Walking by Faith One Day at a TimeSample
A Clear Vision
As I jumped in my car, I had a flashback of my driving experience the day before when remnants of a bug storm splattered my windshield, making it difficult to see. Since my attention was repeatedly drawn towards the smeared splotches during my last trip, before I took off down the road again, I grabbed some paper towels and window cleaner and spent the next few minutes cleaning away the sticky mess.
In the grand scheme of life, splattered bugs on the windshield are a minor irritation, but not the only thing obscuring our clear line of vision. Worry, fatigue, stress, fear, strained relationships, and poor health can be just as aggravating. Unfortunately, these types of distractions are not so easily removed. We need more than Windex and paper towels to see clearly again. We need God's help.
God wants our focus on Him and the road He sets before us, but don't be fooled. Satan will use chaos in our lives to keep us immobilized and ineffective.
Just as windshield wipers aren't very successful when clearing away the sticky mess of bugs, neither are we very effective at cleaning away the worldly distractions through our own merit and strength. God is ready and willing to help us clear away the unwanted fragments, but we still need to ask for His help.
Don't allow annoying diversions to obstruct your clear line of vision any longer. God may not remove our mayhem completely, but He will definitely help us see things more clearly and get us moving in the right direction again.
Life Application
What kinds of life challenges have the potential of clouding a believer's perspective so that they no longer look to God for help? What are some distractions that frequently get in the way of your clear vision and God-given purpose?
Prayer
Lord, you have searched me, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I stand. You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely. You know me better than I know myself. For this reason, I ask you, Lord, to help me quickly recognize when my eyes have shifted from away from you and onto the world around me, and help me to quickly turn back to eyes fixed on you. Amen

About this Plan
Walking by faith is the essence of our journey with God. He wants us to keep our eyes fixed on Him, trusting Him to lead us step-by-step and day-by-day. When we can't see ahead, we must listen for God's direction and rely entirely on His lead. The Lord goes before us and will get us where we need to go.
