Does God Know What I’m Thinking?
Have you at some point ever wanted to know exactly what another person was thinking? Of course, it is humanly impossible to read people’s minds — and honestly, being able to do so would probably create even more problems. But there is One who knows our every thought. As King David wrote of his God, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar” (Psalm 139:2 NIV). What a two-edged sword! On the one hand, we’re grateful that God knows everything about us, even our thoughts, and loves us anyway. On the other hand, we’d all probably prefer Him not to know the frequently ugly, angry, lustful, doubtful things in our minds. The fact that God knows your every thought should make you grateful for His immense, forgiving love but also motivate you to “guard your heart,” knowing that “everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23 NIV).
