DAY 8 OF 10

Share Your Story

Just like God has uniquely gifted you, He has also given you a story that is only yours. The personal journey that led you to Him could have been full of hurt, disappointment, loneliness, and despair. Or it may have been filled with accolades and prosperity and achievements. It looks different for everyone. However, once God has captured your attention and you have decided to follow Him with your whole heart, He will want you to share that personal story with others. It’s the best gift we could have ever received. It’s not meant to be kept a secret.

Our story is part of the overarching story of what God has been doing since the beginning of time. When we see the big picture, we can understand how God will use our story to encourage others and help them to see their need for Him. We just need to be willing to share it.

God has always been in the business of redemption. He doesn't see your brokenness and dismiss you. Instead, He sees it as an opportunity to show His redeeming work. Our stories, as messy or complicated as they may be, can magnify God’s powerful work. He wants us to make the most of any opportunity He gives for us to share our story. It doesn’t have to be eloquently worded to be effective. We just need to share what He’s done in us and the reason for the new hope we have found. God will allow you to share the story of how He has saved you and worked in your life with someone you know or it may be someone you don’t know. Regardless, as Christ's followers, we are to do this with gentleness and respect. No one will see God’s goodness through the story He has written for you if it’s delivered with condemnation or it feels fake. We are meant to be authentic vessels of God’s hope to others. When we share how He has saved us, then God is glorified and all honor is given to HIS saving work in us!

Reflection

Take some time to write down the major parts of your story...

The Before: What your life was like before Jesus - the struggles and difficulties that you experienced.

The How: How you came to know or hear about Jesus and what it was that captured your attention and changed your thoughts about Him.

The Now: How your life looks different now and what God is teaching you.

* Ask God to give you an opportunity to share your story with someone this week. He will equip you with the words if you are willing.
