New Leaf: Turning the PageSample
Lay Aside the Weights
Have you ever went to check in at the airport and your bags were overweight? Well this happened to me recently. The flight attendant was trying to get me to remove some of the weight to avoid paying an extra fee. I told the flight attendant, it's fine I'll just pay the extra fee, because I didn't feel like taking anything out. She insisted that if I took out just one item, I won't have to pay extra. Isn't that something? One item could make the difference.
Sometimes we like to hold onto to things rather than letting them go. Resulting in us paying extra for it in the end. When Jesus died for our sins, He paid the ransom. When we hold on to our sins, we end up having to pay for something that had already been taken care of.
Hebrews 12:1 says "...let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” This lets me know that we become easily distracted by holding on to this weight. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast our cares on Him, because He cares for us. God cares that much! You don't have to carry it anymore. Let it go!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to you as humble as I know how. I've made the decision to lay every weight that I've been carrying at your feet. Today, I turn this over to you. I realize now that I don't have to continue to carry this. Remove the desire from my heart. I count it done. In Jesus name, amen.
Action: Let it go!
