Daily Bible Reading— September 2024, God’s Guiding Word: WisdomSample

September 7
Introduction
1 Kings 3:1–15: The LORD appears to King Solomon in a dream and asks what he would like God to give him. God is pleased with Solomon’s response and promises also to give Solomon that for which he did not ask (wealth and honor). When Solomon awakens, he brings offerings to the LORD and gives a feast for all his officials.
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Kings 3:9a
[Solomon prayed:] “Give me the wisdom I need to rule your people with justice and to know the difference between good and evil.”
Reflect
What did Solomon ask of God? What did God promise to give him? What else did God promise to give Solomon if he obeyed God? What will you ask of God today?
Pray
Lord God, fill my mind with your wisdom so that I walk in your ways and discern the difference between good and evil. Teach me to obey you and to do what is in accord with your will. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Kings 3:16–28: King Solomon judges a difficult case.
