Acknowledge the constant presence of your human nature and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His power and character. The amazing thing about the Holy Spirit is that when we trust Him and ask for His help, He changes our desires and gives us the ability to do what we need to do. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control.

Affirmation of Faith

I confess that I have a human nature within me that desires to rebel against God and His commandments. I was born in a fallen state, and my natural inclination is to live according to my human nature. The only solution is to rely daily on the power of the Holy Spirit. He alone can empower me to overcome my human nature, as He supernaturally changes my desires and abilities. As a free gift of grace, the Holy Spirit assists me in my weaknesses when I need Him most and deserve Him the least. In the sins and struggles of my life, the Holy Spirit is with me to help me overcome and live as God intended.

Prayer for Healing

Say this prayer:

"Holy Spirit, I acknowledge that I have a human nature that desires to rebel against God and His ways. I admit that I have sinned and will continue to desire sin as long as I allow my human nature to control my life. The only solution is for me to rely on You and to walk with a moment-by-moment awareness of Your presence and power in my life. I ask You now to fill me with Your power and love, and to change my desires to align with Yours. Give me the strength to live according to Your will, and help me put my human nature to death. Starting now, I crucify my human nature and surrender my life to Your power. As I do this, I pray for Your power, life, and love to fill me, as You manifest the fruit of the Spirit in my life. Give me the strength to live and love in the likeness of Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
