Christ in the Law: A 5-Day Plan to Delighting in God’s LawSample

Christ in the Law: A 5-Day Plan to Delighting in God’s Law

DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4: Carry the Text with You

Faith and forgiveness are intertwined. Faith is not a performance-based system, at least not our performance. God’s forgiveness is not based on anything that we do. We cannot earn our way to God. Faith is the result of Jesus’ performance. His real-life actions on our behalf were not a show but a sacrifice, demonstrating God’s power and love to all who believe in His Son. There is no forgiveness for anyone who does not place their faith in Christ.

How can you rest in God’s grace rather than striving to earn salvation or favor with God through your works?

What a beautiful gift that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, offering us freedom from the power of sin, guilt, and condemnation. Our acceptance before God is secure in Christ so we do not have to fear freedom. Crossing the boundary lines of freedom should be so distasteful and unappealing to us that we are not tempted to breach its borders where the prowler waits to devour us.

Because faith in Christ transcends every worldly distinction, unity should mark the Christian community across every ethnic, cultural, social, and economic difference. Our diversity should beautify the gospel of Christ and the Christian church, not be the cause of divisiveness and dissension. We are united to Christ and to one another as children of God, fellow heirs with Christ, and witnesses to a watching world.

Are there factors that make this kind of unity difficult for you? Why do you think that is?

How can you cultivate unity and reconciliation:

In your personal relationships

In your local church

In your community

Pause and ask God to help you proactively seek unity in any areas lacking in your own life.

Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:23-29, and Ephesians 4:13-16.

About this Plan

Christ in the Law: A 5-Day Plan to Delighting in God’s Law

Understanding and delighting in God's law? Sign me up! The questions around the promises of God, obedience to the law, and faith are ancient. Like Israel and the early church, believers today desire to obey the Lord. We desire to grow in our faith, and we feel the tension of wanting to “do” the right thing when it comes to our faith. Join Bible teacher Kristie Anyabwile in this 5-day plan as we study how the New Testament church grappled with these issues of obedience to the law and faith in Christ.
