Before Disaster Strikes: Hearing God’s Warnings EarlySample

Day 2: Humility to Hear God’s Voice
In today’s passage, God opens Balaam’s eyes, and he finally sees the angel blocking his path. Before that moment, Balaam’s donkey, a lowly creature, saw what Balaam could not. This humbling experience shows us that God often uses the humble and unexpected to speak into our lives. Balaam, a prophet, should have been the one with spiritual insight, yet it was his donkey that recognized God’s presence first.
We need humility to hear God’s voice, especially when it comes from surprising sources—whether it’s a friend, a situation, or even someone we consider less knowledgeable than us. Humility makes our hearts teachable. Are you willing to listen to God, even if His message challenges your pride or comes from someone you least expect?
Reflection Question:
Is there pride in your heart that could be stopping you from hearing God’s voice through others or through life’s unexpected circumstances?
Prayer:
Father, give me a humble heart, ready to receive Your guidance, no matter how or through whom You choose to speak. Help me to be teachable and open to correction. Amen.
