Taking Your Authority in Christ: By Jennifer Maggio

DAY 2 OF 7

The power Christ paid for is for Kingdom purpose.

The Holy Spirit produces power in our lives – the power to overcome the enemy, the power to share the Gospel with others, the power for all Kingdom purposes, and more. His power produces gifts & fruit. Believers, you are not a victim. You are more than a conqueror through the power of what Christ did on the cross. We live in a world where many people seek power – power to influence, power through money, power through positions. The problem is all of that power is temporary. Sadly, many Christians haven't been taught much about the power of God. Because we don't understand the power of the living God, we have altars full on Sundays, and yet many still leave with the same yokes of bondage they came with.

The power of the Lord breaks every bondage of timidity, insecurity, chaos, rage, addiction, and the feelings of being undervalued. Every spirit coming against your identity in Christ must bow to the power of the Holy Spirit bought by Jesus. Jesus said that it was better for believers that He go away and ascend to Heaven so that the Holy Spirit could come. Understand that the Savior of the world, Jesus, encouraged us with the truth that the Spirit of God living inside us would help us live a free, victorious life.

Paul writes in Ephesians 3:17-20, “Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. May you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then, you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."

Paul explains that the Spirit indwells within us once we accept Jesus as Savior. As we walk in trust with the Lord, our roots will strengthen. We will have revelation of His vast love and a deeper understanding of this mighty power inside us to accomplish more than we could think of or imagine.

Point to Ponder:

  • When did you first come to know the Lord Jesus as Savior? Did you begin to sense a new authority or power inside you? Have you felt that you have come to a complete understanding of God's power inside you? Why or why not?

About this Plan

Taking Your Authority in Christ: By Jennifer Maggio

Have you spent much time feeling beat up in your walk with the Lord, even though you know there is more? Most Christians sit weak, emaciated, and ill-informed of the power inside of them, and the enemy of our soul takes full advantage. The Lord said, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." Friends, you do not have to limp along in life another second. This devotional is for you.
