Pieces of Manna: Surviving Your Wilderness SeasonSample
Day 1: God Knows
When we go through periods of lacking it can be very easy to feel like God doesn’t care or that He’s forgotten about us. After all, if He did, then why would we be going without?
While we very much may be missing something we need at the moment, it does NOT mean God doesn’t care or forgot. He knows. And He cares. The Bible tells us this in multiple places. God could be building in you a greater dependency on Him, which will deepen your relationship and strengthen your character. It will prepare you for upcoming challenges that you otherwise would not be able to handle.
That’s what He did with the people of Israel in their wilderness season before they got to their promised land. He works in our lives in the same way today.
In this devotional, we’re going to be looking at how God fed the Israelites with manna when they were hungry. There are a million different ways God could have fed His people, but He chose to do it by manna for a reason. That core reason is because it required them to trust Him. And that is what God was after with them all along.
His people were marching through the desert on their way to His promise for them. They were hungry and thirsty. They cried, and they complained. They even wished they were back in slavery instead of being free. Their present challenges made them forget how bad their past suffering was when they were crying out to God for help. We tend to do the same thing when we don’t have what we need or want. God knew of their needs, and He already had supernatural plans to provide.
As you read the Bible verses for today’s entry think about what you need. Talk to God about it. Rest assured that He already knew even before you asked. Take heart in the fact that He WILL provide for your needs, and it may not come in the form you expect.
