Day 1: Identify the Seed Planted Within You

In John 15:8, Jesus provides a clear vision to His followers: “My Father is glorified by this: that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” In other words, we glorify God not by safeguarding the gifts we have received, but by using them to serve others and expand His Kingdom. However, prior to multiplying and serving, it is essential to recognize and cultivate the gifts that God has given us.

The story behind EquipHer is a great example of how a simple idea can be transformed into a powerful ministry movement when one is willing to obey and act.

The EquipHer Movement started with an idea: to create a space for Christian, business women where faith and business align. A place where women can be encouraged and inspired, and also find community amongst each other.

When Pastor Wendy and Carrie connected over an online Christian community for leaders in ministry, they became fast friends but had no idea exactly how their collaboration would unfold. It wasn’t until one Zoom call took place, where they learned about their shared passion for serving and encouraging women in business, that they decided to take a faith-filled step and say “yes” to hosting a women's conference together.

Despite never having met in person and recognizing that there would be a great effort required between the two of them in order to turn this idea into a reality, they both felt called to obey the desire in their heart to partner with God in starting this new endeavor.

In Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents teaches us the importance of putting our gifts to work rather than keeping them hidden. Every faith-filled step we take toward our greater potential is an expression of our trust in God. The size of the step doesn't matter, rather, it is our willingness and openness to put faith over fear and trust in Him.

The story of Carrie and Pastor Wendy meeting, turned out to be something greater than either one of them could have imagined: a partnership that unlocked an entire new ministry movement which we know today as EquipHer!
