A Family of PrayerSample
Prayer is receiving Comfort from God.
Think of a shepherd leading his sheep along a rocky and uncertain path. The terrain may be rough, shadows may fall around them, and distant noises might stir fear, but the sheep don’t panic. They have learned to trust their shepherd, who knows the way and will guide them to safety and rest. In the same way, God leads your family through life’s ups and downs with gentle, unwavering care. Even when the journey feels daunting, prayer allows your family to turn to Him with confidence, trusting that He knows the way we should go.
In your family, prayer is an act of faith, much like a sheep trusting its shepherd. We pray not because we can see every step of the journey ahead but because we believe our Shepherd will keep us safe. Each time your family prays together, you’re choosing to place your fears, needs, and hopes into God’s hands, knowing He will lead you to what’s best for each member of your family.
Unfortunately families usually only pray together right before eating dinner. It doesn’t exist beyond that. There's something that has helped grow our prayer time as a family. Each week, we receive a one-page guide with a Bible verse, worship song, seven daily conversation questions, and a short prayer for family time. In just 25 minutes a day, it helps us be intentional with our family in prayer. If you’re interested in the “Leading Your Family Weekly Guide,” you can get it here: https://www.faithfamilyweekly.com/
When you lift up your prayers to God, you’re reaching out for the Shepherd’s comfort and guidance. Even if you can’t see the full path ahead, you can trust that God walks with you through every valley and celebrates with you in every victory. Take a moment today as a family to pray with faith, knowing that no matter what lies ahead, God’s path is steady, safe, and filled with His goodness and mercy. Together, let’s cultivate a spirit of trust in our family, relying on God as our faithful Shepherd.
Family Prayer: Lord, we ask for Your comfort in the areas of pain and struggle in our lives. Bring our family Your peace. Bring our family Your rest. We need You, Lord. Help us to cultivate a life of prayer as we seek You like sheep seek their Shepherd. Guide us. We are more than willing to follow Your lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
