Good FaithSample

As followers of Jesus, it’s easy to think that the Christian life is about a long list of things we can and should do and things we can’t and shouldn’t do. We believe our faith is bigger and better when we’re reading our Bible more, spending a ton of time in prayer, showing up at church anytime the doors are open, and generally doing all the things a “good Christian” would do. Well, while all those things are great ways to stay connected with Jesus and grow good faith, the list alone is a little lacking. On its own, it leads us to believe that life with Jesus is a little . . . well, boring! But as Jesus Himself reminded us, that’s not at all the case.
Jesus didn’t come to the world so that we would have a life that was about doing it all right, trying to be perfect, or never having any fun at all. No, Jesus came to give us a full life—a life overflowing with the joy, gladness, and love that comes only from walking with Him. If we’re not experiencing that abundant life, then maybe we’re not experiencing the full scope of faith Jesus made a way for us to have. This week, try to memorize this verse as a way to remember the kind of life Jesus came for us to live.

About this Plan

We’re told to have faith that certain things will happen, to put our faith in ourselves, to keep the faith, to be faithful. But while phrases like that get tossed around in our vocabulary all the time, have you ever stopped to wonder what faith is really all about? At its core, faith is all trust, hope, and confidence. In this devotional, we’ll look at how putting our faith in Jesus shapes the way we live.
