Ten Minutes With God for Women

DAY 7 OF 10

Carried By God

I have upheld [you] since your birth, and have carried [you] since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you.

Isaiah 46:3-4

As women, there are a multitude of things we can do to disguise our age. I get my roots painted brown every few weeks, but God knows the silver threads underneath and promises to sustain me as I grow older. Age is not important to Him, as He promises to carry us from beginning to end. This brings such peace and is life-giving.

To know that God holds us since conception and still carries us to old age brings a relief that I cannot adequately express. The fact that God reminds us that He made us is a beautiful thing. Especially in our culture of self-made everything, it’s easy to let the foundational and beautiful truth of being created by God and for God slip from our thoughts. And yet, it is because He made us that He is so deeply committed to us.

Sustain and carry are important here as well. To sustain is to give support, nourish, handle, tolerate, and abide. To carry is to move while supporting, to hold the weight or burden of. I love that God says He carries us—holding the weight of our problems and the challenges of our lives. Whatever burden you are holding today, know that God is holding you. There is so much beauty here. Let it sink in.

Today I will remember:

  • God made me—exactly as I am—for His plan.
  • God carries me from conception to my last breath.
  • God sustains me by nourishing me and supporting me in this life.

Lord, as I let this truth of Your care wash over my heart today, I am humbled by Your involvement in my life. Thank You for always being with me, from start to finish.
