7-Day Devotional: Set Apart: Trusting God's Sovereignty in Singleness and ChildlessnessSample

Day 1: Embracing God's Plan for Your Life
Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
When life doesn’t turn out the way we expect, it can be hard to reconcile our desires with God’s plan. Singleness and childlessness are often viewed as burdens or missed opportunities by society, but the Bible reminds us that God has a plan for each of us—one that is uniquely tailored to His will. Whether we are single or childless, we are not outside of God’s purpose. He has ordained each of our lives, and His plan is always good, even when we can’t see it fully.
Consider the life of the Apostle Paul. Paul was single and devoted his life to ministry. In 1 Corinthians 7:7, he even expressed that he wished others could be single as he was because in singleness, he found a deeper focus on serving the Lord. Paul’s life is a testament that God’s purposes can be fully realized through singleness, and that His plans are always for our good, even when they don’t match cultural expectations. When we trust in His sovereignty, we can embrace our unique journey with purpose and joy.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the reminder that You have good plans for my life. Even though I may not fully understand Your purpose for me in this season, I trust that You are working all things for my good. Help me to embrace Your calling for my life, whether single or childless, knowing that You have a perfect plan in place. Give me peace in Your sovereignty and strength to walk the path You've set before me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
