Loss: Encouragement After Losing a Loved One to Addiction

DAY 5 OF 5

Hopefully over the past few days you’ve been encouraged by reading about the “God winks” others experienced during their time of loss. Those who wrote the reflections you’ve read these past days found great comfort in writing down and sharing the times when God revealed Himself to them, even in the depths of their despair.

If you’ve experienced a “God wink,” have you written it down? If not, perhaps now’s the time to do so, to make a record of a time when God was faithful and made Himself real to you that you can reference when you find yourself in a time of darkness and doubt. When you make a record, you can be reminded that He got you through once and He will do it again.

And if you feel so inclined, don’t hesitate to share your “God wink” experience. Just as you were encouraged through this reading plan, there are others who can receive encouragment by hearing how God is present and working the lives of His believers.

Or maybe you’re a person who hasn’t heard from God, who hasn’t experienced a revelation in the midst of your loss. That’s okay! It’s happened to all of us. Just keep asking Him to show Himself to you and then keep your eyes and heart open for whenever that might happen. Because we know that, if we keep seeking God, He will make Himself known and provide us with strength and hope.

He is here in your loss. He always has been. He always will be.

It’s not your fault. You are not alone. There is hope.

Day 4

About this Plan

Loss: Encouragement After Losing a Loved One to Addiction

Losing a loved one to the impact of addiction is one of the deepest pains we can ever feel. The helplessness and grief can threaten to overwhelm us, but one thing we can always be thankful for—if we can open our eyes long enough to see it—is that God is always with us.
