The Road to Easter: God's Eternal PlanSample

THE ROAD TO EASTER
Imagine being locked in a panic room.
The clock is ticking, the pressure is mounting, and the only way out is to solve a series of puzzles. At first, the clues seem completely random—an old key, a cracked mirror, a dusty book, a strange painting, and a locked box. None of it makes sense. You start feeling frustrated, wondering if you're even on the right track.
Then, you find it—the hidden key. It looks ordinary, but as you turn it over in your hands, something clicks (literally and figuratively). You try it on the locked box, and inside, you discover a map. The map points you to the mirror, and when you adjust it just right, a hidden message appears in the painting. That message leads you to the book, where the final clue is waiting. One piece after another falls into place, and suddenly, everything makes sense. That one key didn’t just open a box—it was the piece that made sense of everything else. It was the key that opened the door.
This is how God designed history.
The events, people, and symbols in the Old Testament—like the Passover lamb, Jonah’s three days in the fish, the suffering servant of Isaiah, and the temple sacrifices—might have seemed like random pieces of a puzzle. But they were all leading to one key: Jesus.
God carefully placed every detail to point toward Him. And when Jesus came, He wasn’t just another piece of the puzzle—He was the key that unlocked everything. Suddenly, all of Scripture, all of history, made sense in a way it never had before.
That was what Jesus could finally explain to His friends – and what they wrote down for us.
"And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself." Luke 24:27 (NIV)
And here’s the most amazing part: this wasn’t a last-minute plan. From the very beginning, God knew how He would rescue us. Every event, every prophecy, every moment was building toward this. When Jesus arrived, the final piece clicked into place, and the door to freedom swung open. Now, looking back, we can see it—every detail, every twist in history was on the road to Easter all along.
As you enter into this Easter season, begin by thanking God for the myriad of ways He prepared our hearts to recognize the Savior who fulfilled all the signs and pictures of our coming redemption.
How does knowing that God forecast His plan to bring freedom through Jesus in such intentional ways help you better trust His plan for you?
