I Trust in YouSample

She sat at the airport gate, hands wrapped around her coffee cup, heart racing faster than the people rushing to their flights. Anxiety weighed on her chest. Flying had never been her favorite thing, but this time felt different. The news had been filled with unsettling reports about airplanes, and every worst-case scenario played in her mind.
Boarding the plane, she tried to calm herself, but the nervous energy wouldn’t leave. Then, as she fastened her seatbelt, the captain’s voice came over the speaker:
“To fly this flight is not just my job—it’s my calling. I’m going to make sure I take you where you need to go and get you there safely.”
Something in those words shifted her entire perspective. It wasn’t just that the captain was in control—it was that he cared. He saw this flight as more than just a routine responsibility; it was a mission. Suddenly, she felt peace. The same flight, the same turbulence, but a different heart posture. She trusted the one guiding the plane.
This is what it means to trust in God’s sovereignty.
Many Christians feel uneasy about the idea of God being sovereign, fully in control of everything. It can feel intimidating, even overwhelming. But sovereignty isn’t just something God has; it’s who He is. Scripture often calls Him “Sovereign Lord,” and the root word isn’t just a title, it’s His name. That means calling Him sovereign is a declaration of His very nature. His name carries the weight of perfect authority, wisdom, and love.
When we resist His sovereignty, we sit in the plane of life gripping the armrests, terrified of every bump. But when we trust in His care, we lean back, knowing the One at the controls isn’t just capable—He’s good.
We may not always understand the journey, but we can be certain of the heart of our Pilot. He’s not just taking us somewhere, He’s taking us safely into His plans. Let go of the fear, release your grip, and trust the One who calls you His own.
