Jesus Does for You What No One Else Can
In our modern world and language, perfect means “flawless.” But in biblical terms, it is different. It is something more like “whole” and “complete.”
When Scripture says "perfect," it’s more like a tree growing, roots going deeper, branches spreading wider, fruit ripening in the afternoon sun.
Hebrews 10:14 tells us, “By one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." (NIV) When Jesus died on the cross, he said, “It is finished.” So when we receive what he did on our behalf, we are instantly and eternally positionally perfect in God’s eyes.
It is done. We are the broken made whole. Yet we live on this earth, and we are still learning to live out who we already are; we are being made more like Jesus every day.
We don’t need a list of rules to keep. We need a Savior.
We don’t need to get our act together. We need a loving God who acts on our behalf.
We don’t need to be without flaws. We need to understand that "perfect" is always and only about faith.
Perfection isn't something we strive for; it’s something we believe and receive through Jesus’s death on the cross and his resurrection.
This is our story and our truth and our sure hope: we are imperfect people who are perfectly loved by a perfect God.
Jesus, thank you for what you have done and are still doing in and for me. Amen.
What else do you need Jesus to do for you that no one else can?
