How to Find Jesus for Yourself

DAY 2 OF 3

Who Is Jesus, Really?

If you’re exploring faith, it’s natural to have questions, especially about Jesus. Who was He, really? A wise teacher? A moral leader? A spiritual revolutionary?

You may have spent time around people or churches that display flashy crosses and seem to know a lot about what the Bible says, but don’t really do what Jesus did.

Jesus fled comfort, rejected notoriety, and loved without reservation. He went looking for his friends after they betrayed Him and then cooked them breakfast on the beach. He went against both religious and secular culture to not only respect women, but elevate them.

He attended His local places of worship, and He ate with cheating tax collectors, grumpy religious leaders, and prostitutes. He hugged people no one would touch, and He healed people of all kinds of pain and sickness.

Jesus claimed to be more than simply a kind, bold, and revolutionary leader. He said He was God in human form, the visible image of the invisible God. That’s a big claim. But He didn’t just talk about love and truth, He lived it out in a way the world had never seen.

Jesus wasn’t out to start a religion. He came to restore a relationship, a broken connection between people and the God who made them.

That’s why the Bible describes Jesus as the one through whom everything was created, and the one who holds everything together. That includes you. Your life, your questions—your past and present and future—they all matter to Him.

Maybe you’ve heard about Jesus your whole life, but never really seen Him for yourself. Or maybe this is your first real encounter with who He is. Either way, here’s the invitation: Get curious.

Read the stories of Jesus in the Bible books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. As you do, watch how Jesus treated people. Look at how He lived. Consider what His life says about who God is.

You don’t have to believe everything right away. But what if you allowed yourself to honestly ask: If this is who Jesus is, what does that mean for me?

If Jesus is who He claimed to be, God with us, full of grace and truth, then knowing Him could be the most important thing you ever do.

Challenge: Today, read one of the Gospels (maybe start with the book of Luke). Don’t overthink it. Just read a chapter or two and ask, “What does this show me about who Jesus is?”
