DAY 10 OF 15

The book of John doesn’t include a traditional birth story for Jesus. It seems that the writer of John intentionally wrote what he did in place of what other Gospels included as the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth. But John’s plan was different. John wasn’t trying to convince his readers of Jesus’ humanity. He was trying to convince them of Jesus’ divinity. Part of doing that was John’s prologue, where he points out that God and Jesus are equal. He tells us that Jesus has been with God since the beginning. He ensures that we understand Jesus is the source.

When we think about Jesus being the source from the start, we can begin to view Jesus as not just a person in history, or a part of the world, or even a part of our faith. We see Jesus as being woven into the larger part of the whole world—the entire universe. Seeing Jesus in this way reveals how God is woven into every part of the universe, not just the things we might call “Christian.” In other words, God is so much bigger than a label. When we begin to see God that way, we see evidence of God everywhere we look, not just in the places we might expect.

As you consider this truth, ask yourself daily this week: Where do I see evidence of God?

About this Plan

Collide

Change often feels like a collision. Getting jolted out of the rut of predictability doesn’t always feel good, but it does have the potential to lead to something positive. Scripture is full of examples of people who collided with God and were never the same because of it. That didn’t mean it was always easy, but it did mean they were forever changed as a result. What would it take to put yourself in a position to collide with God?
