Rediscover Prayer: A 30-Day Reading Plan From Addison BevereSample

REFLECT
When Isaiah encountered God’s glory, his first response was awe: “Woe to me, I am undone.” Prayer often begins with reverence, with the recognition that God is holy and we are not. Yet this awe should not push us away—it must draw us closer. The creatures in heaven cry “Holy, holy, holy” because God’s beauty and goodness are beyond measure and articulation. They can’t help but respond to the unfolding awesomeness of their creator.
When we pray with reverence, we remember that the God who calls us friend is also the One whose throne shakes the heavens. Prayer awakens both intimacy and awe, holding us in the safety of both.
RECENTER
Take a minute to bring yourself back to the true center of your life: God. Here is a simple prayer that will help you surrender this place, this time, and your awareness to God. “I am here.”
REST
Pause. Breathe. Be still.
In the silence and stillness, listen to your life. Let the necessary words and images form in your consciousness. What thoughts are seeing you from entering rest today?
RECEIVE
What is God saying to you? Write down the whispers, the intimations, the promptings that rise from the pages of Scripture or within your spirit.
RESPOND
How is God inviting you to partner with him today? God’s words become real to us as we move in faith.
About this Plan

This 30-day plan invites you into prayer as a living rhythm. Each day follows a simple framework—reflect, recenter, rest, receive, and respond—helping you see and experience God in your everyday life. Through Scripture and silence, honesty and trust, prayer becomes less a task to complete and more a way of living.
