From Creation to CallingSample

It’s hard not to smile when you see a baby. From their rosy cheeks to their chubby little hands, babies bring joy to even the most jaded adults. We delight in their every move, ooh and ahh over their adorable features, and celebrate their growth spurts and developments. So where does all that joy go when we grow up? At what point do we stop delighting in the way God made us and others, too? It’s easy to love and celebrate a tiny infant and see how precious they are, from their button nose to their tiny toes. But as we grow up, we lose sight of how special we still are. We stop celebrating all of the things that make us wonderful and start focusing on all of the things that we think are wrong with us. Scripture tells us that from the start, God’s design of each of us is intimate and intentional. There is no one else in all of creation like you. God made you specifically to be yourself, and you’re the only one. Every day of your life is known by God. How awesome is it that God purposely made each of us! We know that all of God’s works are wonderful, including us. We may not be cute little babies anymore, but God still celebrates our moments of growth, both big and small.
Reflection Questions:
1. If we truly believed what these verses say about us, what negative feelings about ourselves could we overcome? Ask God to help you embrace the truth of what He says about you!
2. Take a moment to reflect on the way Psalm 139 describes you. As you read through it, replace every I and me with your name. How does it feel to think of yourself as a wonderfully complex masterpiece, known and loved by God? When you reflect on God’s intentional design and purpose for your life and body, how does that lead you to respond to Him?
