Rest and Reset: A 30-Day Devotional to Revive JoySample

Seek the Lord
Daily, I will seek You, for You are the lover of my soul and the captain of my peace. Throughout Scripture, there is a charge to seek the Lord. This seeking isn’t just the posture of prayer when life gets hard or when you need clarity for your decision-making. To seek the Lord means to inquire of Him daily with genuine intent to live in oneness with His nature and His purpose for our lives. Seeking the Lord involves fully surrendering your cares to Him as you deepen your knowledge of Christ through His Word.
Years ago, people wore bracelets and even had stickers on their cars that said, “WWJD”. This acronym stood for “What Would Jesus Do?”. Whenever you see those words, there is a pause—a sacred moment to consider what He would do in any situation. To answer this question and align your values with the Lord, you must seek Him through His word and prayer, becoming familiar with His character and His ultimate purpose. In Psalm 105, verses three and four, the Bible says, 'Glory ye in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: Seek his face evermore.”
David beautifully combines these two verses, urging us to rejoice as we seek the Lord. This isn’t a moment to give in to the confusion of what’s happening around us, but rather a serene, relaxed state of knowing—when you pause to pray and seek the Lord. He leans in to listen, not only to the words but also to motives, burdens, hidden hurts, desires, and all of you so that you feel seen, heard, and loved. David continues to say, "Seek His strength and His face."
How do you practically seek the face of the Lord and inquire of His strength? God’s face is His presence. It’s the imagery of communicating with someone. As you speak, you look into their countenance and observe that they are attuned to every word you say, even the expressions you make during the conversation. God is never distracted when you call upon Him. He is always present and ready to hear your most pressing cries.
Another verse says, 'Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 'Isaiah 55:6 KJV. To seek the Lord, while He may be found, isn’t suggesting that the Lord has ever been lost. Still, this truth reminds us how sometimes we become so caught up in fearing what’s next, navigating the difficult challenge of grief, or walking through a season of disillusionment that clouds our view of the reality that God is near. We often lose sight of who God is when life becomes difficult. So, this verse encourages us to seek God now, to seek Him every day and in every moment, so in the silent seasons, you won’t need to muster the courage to believe that God hasn’t failed you or forsaken you.
Have you sought the Lord today? Have you paused in the rhythms of your routine to simply say, 'Thank you, Jesus'? David proclaimed, “'I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 'Psalm 34:4 KJV
David sought, the Lord heard, and then the Lord acted on His behalf. God promises to do the same for you today and every day. Seek the Lord with all your heart and watch as He turns your confusion into peace.
Be Encouraged.
