Heart of Worship: 30 Days to Deeper Praise

DAY 25 OF 30

It’s Kenzie from Essential Worship and we feel so blessed to bring you today’s Scripture from Romans 11:36 (NIV) which says:

“For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.”

Upon reading this Scripture, the first thing we thought of was the song “Worthy Of It All” where the chorus says,

“For from You are all things

And to You are all things

You deserve the glory…”

We love all sorts of worship songs but there is something so special about a song that is written directly from Scripture. It feels so powerful to be singing the words of God directly - giving Him the praise that He so deeply deserves. Could Paul ever have imagined that His words penned in Romans around 67 A.D. would become a renowned song called “Worthy Of It All” in 2012? Probably not, but that’s what’s so lovely about our Jesus; He is always working on a plan behind the scenes that we can’t see.

This small Scripture in verse 36 is part of a section of Romans 11 labeled “Doxology”, meaning “word of glory” (doxa: glory & logos: word). It’s four verses long and all four are dedicated to praising the Lord for His character and who He is. Verse 35 is one that we want to draw your attention to, “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” (NIV). In context, we learn that ultimately we cannot give God anything at all nor are we deserving of anything from Him, because everything is His!

In other words, our God reigns above it all and is worthy of it all. Why? Because it all belongs to Him.

Your finances belong to Him.

Your job belongs to Him.

Your hope belongs to Him.

Your spouse belongs to Him.

Your success belongs to Him.

Your children belong to Him.

Your friends belong to Him.

Everything belongs to Him, “for from Him…are all things”.

While this may seem alarming, especially for those among us that love to be in control, this is actually the greatest news!! Instead of having to grasp at that promotion or grasp at that relationship - we can actually walk in peace and freedom that God doesn’t operate out of scarcity but abundance.

And that is a reason to praise Him, singing of His glory and kindness forevermore. He is so good and so faithful. He sees our needs and He meets them. He is worthy of it all. Amen, amen, amen.
