Understanding Spiritual Warfare: Victory Through God's Presence, Prayer, and SurrenderSample

The Battle Is Won in Christ
For the past 30 days, we’ve looked at the reality of spiritual warfare, the armor and weapons God has given us, and common weapons that Satan uses to try to stop us. We’ve seen how the truth of God’s Word overcomes the enemy’s lies, and we’ve learned to use that sword to defeat him.
My prayer is that this past month has strengthened your faith and your courage. The battle is real, but our enemy is no match for our God!
In Christ, we are victors. Through his death, resurrection, and ongoing presence in our lives, we are truly free. We can say with the Apostle Paul: “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ” (Ephesians 1:3, NLT).
Being united with Christ is the central truth that guarantees your victory. It is your permanent position: the ground you stand on, the covering you live under, and the power you fight from.
Paul begins Ephesians by building this case. He points out that you are chosen (Ephesians 1:4), adopted into God’s family (1:5), redeemed and forgiven (1:7), filled with wisdom and grace (1:8), and sealed by the Holy Spirit (1:13). These blessings are already yours because you are in him. You lack nothing.
From that position, you get to live each day in victory. The enemy will continue to attack; that’s what he does. But you can stand daily on God’s promise that, “The Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT).
As you go forward from here, let the words of Ephesians 1 soak into your soul. Choose to release control in areas where fear or pride once ruled. Walk in the boldness that comes from having truly surrendered to God’s lordship and fully trusting in his goodness. God has your back, and he will protect you from the enemy of your soul.
You are safe. You are strong. You are supplied. And the battle is already won.
Reflection Questions
- Does “every spiritual blessing” describe what you have already received from Christ? If not, what more do you want to ask him for?
- How has Satan tried to attack you in the past? What have you learned in the past 30 days that can help you recognize and defeat his schemes?
