Give It to God - 7 Good Reasons to PraySample

How many “Why’s” is too many?
Several years ago, Cameron and I visited some friends whose daughter was about 3 years old. She was in that adorable-but-exhausting phase of asking “Why?” about absolutely everything.
No matter what you told her—whether it made perfect sense or not—she’d look at you, tilt her head, and ask again: “Why?” Eventually, I glanced at her mom for backup, but she just laughed and shrugged. No answer seemed to satisfy her daughter. 😂
As cute as it was, I’m sure her parents were also relieved when that phase passed. 😅
It is good, though, to occasionally stop and ask ourselves that very one-word question, “why?”
This week, I found myself asking, “Why should we pray?” Not because I doubt its importance, but because I wanted to remind myself—and you—why it matters so much.
Over the coming days, we’ll cover seven good reasons to pray, starting with perhaps the most important one: it pleases God.
The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases Him. – Proverbs 15:8
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people […] This is good, and pleases God our Saviour – 1 Timothy 2:1,3
Our prayers please God. That alone should be reason enough to pray.😉
But if you think about it, it’s pretty amazing that the God who created the universe never gets bored or tired of our prayers; in fact, they are pleasing to Him!
God is not like a weary parent, worn out by endless questions. No, He is waiting for them! It is His will for you to pray continually.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Start today with a prayer. Ask Him anything. Tell Him anything.
He’s listening.
