Why Not You: Believing What God Believes About YouSample

Why Not You: Believing What God Believes About You

DAY 3 OF 5

You Are God's Workmanship

The lie: God doesn’t have any use for me. My skill set is limited. I’m a fraud.

The truth: Not only is your identity found in Christ, but He made you to be exactly who you are! Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” And Philippians 2:13 affirms, “It is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Is the feeling of being an imposter keeping you from stepping into God’s calling for your life? Do you find yourself trying to prove, please, or pacify people? Do you struggle with basing who you are on the acceptance of others through what you accomplish?

If so, it is possible to separate yourself from imposter syndrome. How? Be you. It sounds simple because it is. Now, just because it is simple does not make it easy. Being yourself is simple in concept but can be difficult to carry out. That means in every setting, in every group of people you are around, whether at church, the ballpark, school, the office, at home, or out at dinner, you are the same person. You are who God created you to be. You do not have to wear different masks, because you were made in God’s workmanship to be exactly who you are.

It’s time to put down the masks. God is telling you today you are His. Your identity is in Him. You are His workmanship, made exactly as He desired.

He predestined you. He called you. He justified you. And He glorified you. It’s time to separate your feelings from the facts. Stop self-sabotaging and accept the praise He puts in front of you. Embrace failure and use it to grow into who God is calling you to be.

Victory isn’t about believing in your achievements and skills. It is about recognizing who you are and what you have in Jesus Christ. You are not an imposter. You are a child of God, and He is preparing to use you in unimaginable ways.

Dear Jesus, I am Your workmanship, created for good works as I walk in who I am, who You have made me to be, by the power of Your Spirit. Lead me, I pray! Amen.

About this Plan

Why Not You: Believing What God Believes About You

When we are tempted to believe lies about ourselves—that we lack value, we aren’t skilled or experienced, we’re too weak to make a difference, God has no use for us—it is wise to counter them with the promises of God’s Word: that He loves, cherishes, and has a vital role for each of us in His plans. Let’s look at five ways to replace those lies with truth.
