I Know a GuySample

Jesus and most of his first followers grew up practicing the Jewish faith. To understand some ofJesus’ words more completely, we can explore the Old Testament section of the Bible.
In the reading yesterday, Jesus talked about himself as “the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth.” Let’s read a story from the beginning of the Bible and then revisit Jesus’ words. Jacob is a Jewish patriarch in the Old Testament. He tricks his brother into getting a special blessing from their father and has to leave home to avoid his brother’s anger. God meets Jacob in a dream.
Read Genesis 28:10-17 and then John 1:47-51.
- What are some of the promises God makes in Jacob’s dream?
- What is Jesus saying about himself when he refers to the stairway between heaven and earth?
As we have been going through this series about knowing Jesus, what are some things you have come to know about him?
Prayer: What do you want to say to Jesus in response?
