Wake Up to What God Is Doing

Faith isn’t just something we believe internally; it’s something that shows up externally. James reminded us that faith without works is lifeless—not because our good deeds earn salvation but because real trust in God naturally bears fruit in love.

The challenge is this: Love often costs us something. It might cost our comfort, our convenience, or even our pride. Fear of awkwardness or embarrassment can tempt us to stay silent or walk past someone in need. But faith comes alive when we step past those hesitations and let God’s love flow through us.

Love in action doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it’s as simple as pausing to listen when you’re in a rush, offering encouragement when someone is discouraged, or sharing a meal with someone who has none. Small, Spirit-led steps of kindness become powerful when they’re rooted in faith.

One practical way to stay awake to these opportunities is to pray as you go about your day: Father, show me where You’re at work here, and may I please join You? That simple prayer shifts our perspective. It reminds us that we are coworkers with God, invited to step into what He is already doing around us.

This is the heart of waking up our faith: seeing the people God places in our path and responding with His love. Each act of obedience, however ordinary it seems, is a testimony that our trust is not in ourselves but in Him.
