The Eternal Gospel

DAY 1 OF 7

God’s Eternal Plan: Salvation

Paul the Apostle declares in our text that the Gospel of God is concerning His Son, Jesus Christ. The testimony about Christ did not start in the New Testament but began in the Old Testament.

The gospel about Jesus came first as a promise in the Law and Prophets in Scripture, the Old Testament, before it became a reality in the New Testament. Genesis, all through to Malachi, echoes this promise through various types and shadows of the Christ (Romans 1:3)

From God's utterances in the Garden of Eden, to the life of Abraham and his descendants, various events in the life of many other patriarchs, and the prophecies spoken about the coming of Christ through the mouth of the Old Testament Prophets. We understand that all of these events foreshadowed Christ.

Jesus Himself taught about things concerning Himself from Moses and the Prophets while He was discussing them with two disciples on their way to Emmaus—how He would suffer, how He would die, and how He was going to resurrect (Luke 24:27).

The Old Testament truly testifies of Jesus Christ as the promised seed to come, as the promised saviour, and the one who will save us from our sins.

So, when you hear about the Gospel, remember that it is a story God has been telling since the beginning of the world, not a sudden rescue plan or an afterthought.

Prayer Focus:

Thank you, God, for your plan of salvation from the beginning of the world. Thank You for the provision for my redemption.
