Why Sacrifice? Embracing God’s Promises For Joy And FruitfulnessSample

Safety
The Lord calls us to turn to Him when we’re seeking safety—not to money, insurance, or even our families. God’s promises are our measure and definition of security, and in Him, we have nothing to fear.
This doesn’t mean we are immune to trouble or that we will never face harm. What it does mean is that in our suffering, God is our refuge and strength. He will be our stronghold and shelter when hardships come.
Jesus tells His followers to expect trouble and persecution. Obedience to Him can often lead us into situations that feel very unsafe. But this shouldn’t keep us from moving forward and taking steps of faith and sacrifice. Rather, in laying down our lives, we glorify God, our ultimate source of shelter and protection.
- Think of times when you faced danger. How did God make Himself known to you?
- What is one thing in your life that you need to stop running to for safety?
- As you read the following passages of Scripture, ask the Lord to give you a deeper understanding of His faithfulness and goodness amidst trouble.
