Key Passage: Matthew 1.18

Thank you for looking at the life of Jesus with us! We’re starting with his birth and even though we’re super familiar with the story, let’s put ourselves in the shoes of Mary and Joseph. They’re engaged and they find out Mary is going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit. If you shared the news with your family or friends, they would think you’re crazy, right?

Shortly after Jesus’ birth, it became very clear this was no ordinary child and their whole world was about to change.

Let’s read about the visitors from the east and their quest for the Messiah.

Main Passage: Matthew 2.1-12

Reflection:

• How did the men from the east find Jesus? What did they plan to do when they saw him?
• What was King Herod’s response to Jesus’ birth? How did the visitors from the east respond to Jesus? If you were Mary and Joseph, what would you be thinking as you observe the visitors from the east?
• Thank God for sending Jesus. Ask Jesus to continue to transform you as you focus on his life and your relationship with him.
