Love God Greatly - Philippians: Choosing JoySample

Read: Philippians 1:7-11
SOAP: Philippians 1:9-11
“One day” is coming. Until the day when every soul will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and every knee in every language will bow - from every nation and all corners of the world - until that glorious day, we have a job to do. We are to live like Christ. In previous verses (5-8) we see that Christ came as a humble servant to a world that did not know Him. He took on the attitude of humility and emptied Himself as he served those around Him. Sweet friends, until that glorious day when every knee will bow, we have work to do. May it begin with us… here and now.

About this Plan

How is it possible to have deep joy in the midst of overwhelming sorrow and suffering? Out of 104 verses in this power-packed book, Jesus is mentioned directly or indirectly 51 times. In the end, Paul teaches us that Jesus is the Author and only Source of true joy. The things of this world can never satisfy our deepest longings. Without Jesus there is no salvation, and therefore no lasting joy. Without Jesus there is no way to overcome our circumstances, to love people who are hard to love, to reconcile, to forgive, and to live godly lives.
