Jesus' Call To Hurting People—Disciple Makers Series #12Muestra
What appears when God shines light on our heart?
Thoughts on the message
Jesus summarizes His discussion about John. Here was the man who prepared the world to receive Jesus and the Kingdom message that Jesus would bring. The world did not want this message – and so they rejected John (he was too rigid and disciplined) and they reject Jesus (He loved the rejected people too much). That is exactly what people say today. They do not like the need to walk in obedience and they do not like to treat the poor and outcast with the same honor that others get.
In other words, God exposes our hearts. Sometimes our hearts do not look very nice. We do not like having it exposed like that. John did this back then. Jesus did this back then. They still expose our hearts today.
Time to Pray
Father, the message of Jesus and John is Your message to me today. It is a message that exposes unwillingness – to obey and to love. It is such a challenge. It is such a clear message. It is no wonder that this world fights against it. We want to have room to live the way we want to live – and You do not give us that option. So today, I ask for Your heart for Your law and for my world. Without Your heart, I will never love the Kingdom message. Without Your heart, I will reject either John, Jesus or both of them. So give me Your heart. In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
