Human rules versus God’s rules.

We add things to God’s rules – and think it helps people. Usually, it causes people to take their eyes off God’s rules and put them on our rules. Soon, our rules become more important than God’s. 

Love one another. Forgive anyone who sins against us. As much as possible live at peace with all people. Honor your parents. Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly before God. Love God with all your heart.

These are God’s rules. They are really good rules too. They help us walk in freedom. With the Spirit’s help – we can do them too!

Prayer

Father, Your rules are really quite simple – not easy, but simple. In fact, they are so simple even children can understand them. They are so hard even the best adult cannot follow them. So today, give us Your strength so that we live by Your rules, love Your rules and honor Your rules. Help us not look for ways to limit them, bypass them or ignore them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
