I Believe In The ResurrectionMuestra
My body
A brilliant and imaginative young woman named Mary Shelley wrote what is considered by some to be the first science fiction novel in the year 1818. She was only 20 at the time. The story of Frankenstein describes the use of the electricity in lightning to revivify a fresh corpse. Such a procedure, though scientifically impossible, is just barely believable enough to carry the story.
Only God could promise that he can and will bring your body back to life, no matter how many years have passed, no matter how far the decomposition process has progressed, no matter how thoroughly earth and insects and bacteria and animals and water have caused it to disintegrate.
When a believer dies, his or her soul/spirit is taken to the joy of God’s presence. When Christ returns to judge the earth, he will call your body forth. Thus your life in heaven will be both spiritual and physical.
A man named Job who had known terrible suffering of mind and body found great comfort in the guarantee of the physical resurrection. He eagerly looked forward to praising his God face-to-face—literally: “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:25-27).
Mine does too, Job.
