The Runaway – The Reason We Run

DÍA 7 DE 7

Scandalous Grace

How far will God go to reach the runaway? To whatever length is necessary! Jonah knew how good God’s grace was and that’s why he didn’t want to extend grace to the people of Nineveh. In Nineveh were the worst people in Jonah’s life, people who’d soon conquer Israel, people who were broken, and terrible, disgusting individuals. Here is where you and I have to try to fathom God’s grace… because His grace did not only extend to Jonah by going to the bottom of the sea and picking him up with a fish. God’s grace was so great that it was extended not just to Jonah, not just for his sake but to the sake of the evil people in Nineveh. These examples are good news for you and me.

Maybe you are saying right now, “Yes, I’m running from God in all areas in my life. My finances, marriage, or work are not where they’re supposed to be.” If God’s grace can redeem the people of Nineveh who were adulterers, murderers, and the worst of their time, the scandalous grace of God can redeem your story. The beauty of your story is that it is not for your glory, but for God’s glory alone. All of the broken, busted pieces of disobedience, all of the scars you have in your life from all the consequences, God takes and says, “I am working all of this together for your good; and not just for your good, but for the greater good, and I will make something beautiful from this.”

So Runaway, in whatever way you’re running away, God is calling you home to His grace and to His mercy because there is nothing that will stop Him from reaching you. He will constantly pursue us and come after us. This is fantastic news for you and for me. There are no levels with the grace of God. You and I are just as much sinners as the people of Nineveh, yet Christ died for us all. His grace is that good. Come home Runaway and be embraced by God’s grace.

The Runaway – The Reason We Run

The life of Jonah, the four chapters, is a short and fantastic book that gives us truths and insights of what life is as a runaway. We all give Jonah a hard time for not doing the one thing that God asked him to do. The truth is that we all have run away at some point in our lives. In this first plan, we will discuss why we do this and recognize that the scandalous grace of God can redeem all of our stories.
