Long Life And Prosperity (Happy Birthday)Muestra
His Voice in the Prayer
As Christians, we are privileged to have friends and family pray for us during our periods of celebration. Certainly, on my last birthday, I was overwhelmed with calls, and texts filled with prayers especially for me on my special day.
Social media is connecting the world together in a special way, making it smaller by the day, and meaning that even more friends of friends and long distance friends have the opportunity to reach out to you on your birthday.
During the event of my last birthday, one of my really close friends called and spent some time praying with me. Lo and behold, I heard the voice of God (literally) speaking through her to me! Wow.
Often prayer is our cry to the Lord—our way of reaching out to Him and inviting Him into our space—then He responds. But on this occasion, I heard the voice of God speak directly to me (in her voice) as my friend prayed.
Essentially the words of her prayer (which were declarations into my life) stood out as the voice of God to me. I was humbled! God never ceases to amaze me. Through someone else’s words to Him on my behalf, He chose to speak to me.
Since then I pay close attention to the words of the prayers of others, especially when they are praying with/for me. Yes, God speaks through the songs we sing, the Bible readings, the sermons we hear, but now I know that He also speaks through the prayers of others.
Two things I’ve learnt from that experience and hand to you for consideration and meditation:
1. It is important that you surround yourself with kingdom friends who will not only speak a prayer or blessing over your life but whom God may use as a vessel to communicate to you.
2. Never underestimate the power of prayer, or the way in which God may choose to communicate with you. Remember His ways are not our ways. He May decide not to conform to our expectations in the way He presents Himself or speaks to us, and we must be careful not to miss His voice because of our preconceived ideas and expectations.
Say this prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to always be alert to Your voice. The bible says Your sheep know Your voice. May I not miss Your words simply because it’s out of the list of ways I expect You to communicate to me.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
God bless you!
