Human: An 8 Day Devotional by Mosaic MSCMuestra
FOUNTAIN (I AM GOOD)
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Proverbs 16:24 NIV
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
Psalm 36:7-9 NIV
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
When I was in elementary school, I attended a summer Bible camp for kids. Each day of camp we explored a different story from the book of Genesis, and the camp leaders taught us through creative experiences. I remember when they taught us about the different days of creation and how on the sixth day, God created humans in His own image (Genesis 1:27). I couldn’t even comprehend how the same God that had just created stars, mountains, oceans, and galaxies decided that He would save His greatest creation for last — us. The fact that we are made in the image of God disturbed me, because I had been told that I was useless and unwanted, and those voices defined some part of me.
Fountain (I am Good) is not a song of self-indulgence. It is a song praising and thanking for God for seeing us as worthy of His love, despite all our brokenness and flaws. The verses of Fountain acknowledge the power of the Triune God (the Fountain); the Spirit, the Person (Jesus), and the Father (God). It is so amazing to see different parts of the character of God impact our lives and bring healing to us.
There is a fountain
Wrapped in a haze of light
Flooded with goodness
Rushing with words of life
Think about the last time you heard a direct encouragement from God. Maybe it was an assurance that you are going in the right direction, or that what you are doing is helping someone that severely needs it. The words that the Holy Spirit tells us are words that are filled with God’s goodness and will bring healing to people that need it, ourselves included.
There is a person
Light running through His hands
Speaking with kindness
Brimming with gentleness
The most blatant proof of how much God loves us is that He would send His own Son to be slain in the most brutal way possible, just so He could atone for our sins. Upon that cross, He paid for every mistake and sin that all of humanity has ever and will ever commit — and He did it all because He loves us with an everlasting love.
You are the Father
Love rushing through Your veins
Warm and devoted
Tenderness filled with strength
This verse encompasses the character of God the Father so well. Throughout the history of time, God has made decisions that may seem to us as catastrophic or barbaric, but what we lose sight of is that God is all-knowing and knows all outcomes of all decisions. What we do know is that everything God does is fueled by love. Whether we can see the outcome or not, we can know that God is fighting for us.
ACTION
Think about who God created you to be. Are you truly living in that, or are you living in what other people have said you are?
PRAYER
God, thank you for calling me good, worthy, and wanted, even when I feel like I am not so much of the time. Thank you for existing in three persons that each speak straight to our souls and heal us.
